Navratri Day 1: Maa Shailputri

Another name for the Himalayas is Shailendra or Shail. Shail means mountain or rock. Goddess Durga was born in Himalaya’s house as Parvati.

Her mother’s name was Maina. That is why the first name of the goddess was Shailputri i.e. daughter of Himalaya.

Mother Shailputri is worshipped for wealth, employment, and good health. Shailputri teaches that for success in life, first of all, intentions should be strong and steadfast like a rock.

Navratri Day 2: Maa Brahmacharini

Brahmacharini means one who follows the conduct prescribed by Brahma. One who helps one attain Brahma.

One who always lives with discipline. For success in life, it is very important to follow principles and rules. Without this, no destination can be reached.

Discipline is most important. Brahmacharini is worshipped to attain supernatural powers. Many Siddhis are attained by worshipping her.

Navratri Day 3: Maa Chandraghanta

This is the third form of the Goddess, who has a bell-shaped moon on her forehead; hence, her name is Chandraghanta.

This Goddess is regarded as the Goddess of satisfaction. True peace and success in life cannot be experienced without a sense of satisfaction in the mind.

Anyone who is looking for self-welfare and peace should worship Maa Chandraghanta.

Navratri Day 4: Maa Kushmanda

Kushmanda is the fourth form of the Goddess. According to the scriptures, the universe was created by the gentle smile of this Goddess.

This is why she was named Kushmanda. This Goddess removes fear. Fear is the biggest obstacle in the path to success.

One who wants to live a happy life free from all kinds of fears should worship Goddess Kushmanda.

Navratri Day 5: Skanda Mata

Kartikeya is the first son of Lord Shiva and Parvati; one of his names is Skanda. Being the mother of Kartikeya, i.e. Skanda, the fifth form of the Goddess is named Skanda Mata.

Apart from that, she is also the giver of power. For success, it is necessary to have both the ability to accumulate power and the ability to create. This form of the Mother teaches and provides this.

Navratri Day 6: Maa Katyayani

Katyayani is the daughter of the sage Katyayana. Sage Katyayana performed intense penance for Goddess Durga, and when she pleased him, he requested the boon that she be born as his daughter.

Katyayani was named by him because she was born to him. People worship her as the goddess of health. They cannot attain success with a sick and weak body.

The body needs to be healthy to reach the destination. Those who want freedom from disease, grief, and suffering should please Goddess Katyayani.

Navratri Day 7: Maa Kaalratri

Kaal means time, and Raatri means night. Mother Kaalratri grants all the siddhis obtained through nighttime sadhana.

People worship this goddess for supernatural powers, tantra siddhi, and mantra siddhi.

This form teaches that for success, forget the difference between day and night. Only those who continuously strive to move forward without stopping or getting tired can reach the peak of success.

Navratri Day 8: Maa Mahagauri

The eighth form of the Goddess is Mahagauri. Gauri means Parvati, and Mahagauri means the most excellent form of Parvati.

People worship and meditate upon Mahagauri to rid themselves of the dark veil of sins and purify their souls.

She symbolizes purity of character, teaching that success achieved with a tainted character is of no value, and only with a bright character can one truly enjoy the joy of success.

Navratri Day 9: Siddhidatri Mata

This goddess is the origin of all Siddhis. Devi Purana says that Lord Shiva attained many Siddhis from this form of the goddess.

History of Navratri Puja

Hindus celebrate Navratri Puja to commemorate Devi Durga’s victory over Mahishasur Asura.

Lord Brahma had given the boon of immortality to Mahishasur for his tapasya (Penance). He could not be killed by a man or by the Devtas.

He could only be killed by a woman. Mahishasur believed that no woman could ever kill him. Mahishasur became formidable; no devta could think about defeating Mahishasur.

In this instance, the three devas, namely Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesha, pooled their energies to create a powerful energy. This energy took the form of Devi Durga.

All the Devtas provided weapons to Devi Durga to defeat Mahishasur. The battle between Devi Durga’s forces and Mahishsur’s army took place at Indravati.

The battle took place for ten days. Mahishasur took different forms to confuse the Devi, but Devi Durga never missed her target.

Finally, Devi Durga killed Mahishasur when he took his original form, that is, the form of a buffalo. To mark the victory of Devi Durga over Mahishasur, devotees celebrate Navratri Puja.

Although both texts are about Lord Ram and his life, many people are unaware. But do not worry, today, in this blog, we will also going to tell you the basic difference between the Ramayan and the Ramcharitmanas.

After reading this article, you will be able to understand the cost, Vidhi, and benefits of the holy text Ramcharitmanas.

What is the Ramcharitmanas?

Ramcharitmanas is an ancient sacred text. It was written in the Awadhi language by Goswami Tulsidas Ji in the 16th century.

Its composition started in Ayodhya on Ramnavami of Samvat. Ramcharitmanas is a biography in which the entire life story of Lord Ram has been depicted.

The Ramcharitmanas has qualities of both biography and poetry. It is a symbol of a poet’s devotion, along with a biography and poetry.

This text is believed to be a great creation of Awadhi literature (Hindi literature). It is also commonly known as ‘Tulsi Ramayana‘ or ‘Tulsikrit Ramayana‘.

Its main verses are Chaupai and Doha, and in between, some other types of verses are also used. There are a total of 9388 Chaupais, 1172 Dohas, 47 Shlokas, and 208 Verses.

After combining all, there are a total of 10902 Chaupayi, Doha, Soratha, Shloka, and Chhand. Ramcharitmanas has a special place in Indian culture.

In North India, it is read daily by many people as ‘Ramayana’. In Sharad Navratri, the Sundarkand is recited for the entire nine days. The idol of Ramcharitmanas is Lord Ram.

Tulsidas has depicted Lord Ram as Maryada Purushottam, which means the supreme man.

Lord Ram is the incarnation of Lord Narayan (Lord Vishnu), who is the preserver of the universe.

In the Ramayana by Maharishi Valmiki, Lord Ram is portrayed as an ideal character who guides human society on how to live his life, no matter how many obstructions come.

Tulsi’s Ram is Maryada Purushottam despite being all-powerful. Goswami Tulsidas has described all the incidents related to Lord Ram’s life in a unique style by resorting to couplets, chaupais, Soraths, and chhand.

Importance of Ramcharitmanas

The holy text Ramcharitmanas is the most significant and beautiful tale that is close to the hearts of all Hindus.

According to the Ramcharitamanas, Lord Ram is the seventh incarnation of Lord Vishnu. This text is founded on the life and experiences of Lord Ram.

The Ramcharitmanas is composed in the Awadhi language, so it is much easier to comprehend than the Ramayana.

The Ramcharitmanas imparts righteous guides in the fields of duty, virtue, affection, faith, and perspective. It clarifies and simplifies the Vedic philosophy.

In most Hindu households, every morning, the Ramcharitmanas Path is recited. It is the everyday practice in the Hindu household.

The Pandit for Ramcharitmanas practices continuously reciting the Shri Ram Charit Manas. Many people cannot distinguish the Ramayana and the Ramcharitmanas.

To put it simply, the Ramayan was written by sage Valmiki in Sanskrit, whereas Ramcharitmanas was written by Tulsidas Ji.

Ramcharitmanas is way easier to recite than the Ramayana. When an individual recites the holy Ramcharitmanas, it has immense benefits.

By reciting it, one gets freedom from the sins of birth and rebirth, fear, disease, etc. It is said that the verses of the Ramcharitmanas are so effective that by merely reciting them, the person who wishes for wealth gets wealth.
